A record 76 artworks submitted by 16 arts organisations from across the Highlands and Islands will go on public display as part of the Highland Art Prize 2026 this October.

Presented in conjunction with the Royal National Mòd, the exhibition brings together work selected by organisations across the region and will be open daily from 9am to 5pm. Most of the artworks will be available to purchase. 

The Highland Society of London, the hosts of the Highland Art Prize, extend an invitation to attend the prize-giving event from 12.30pm to 1pm on Friday 16 October 2026 at The Briggait, where this year’s judges – multi-disciplinary artist Eòghann Mac Colla and gallery owner Scott Bennett – will announce the 2026 winner. 

Now in its fifth year, the Highland Art Prize continues to showcase the depth and diversity of visual art being created across the Highlands and Islands. This year’s record number of submissions reflects growing engagement from local arts organisations and artists across the region. 

Prizes are provided by the Highland Society of London, Wasps Studios, the Strathearn Gallery in Crieff and the Annan Gallery in Glasgow. 

The winner will receive a £1,000 prize, shared with their corresponding arts organisation, and Wasps Studios will once again offer the winning artist the opportunity to mount a solo exhibition at The Briggait in central Glasgow during 2027. 

The runner-up will receive a £250 voucher for artist materials, presented by the Strathearn Gallery and the Annan Gallery, with £25 vouchers also awarded to each of the shortlisted artists.
