The Briggait is a magnificent building which had, except for temporary use, lain empty for the best part of 20 years. Wasps set out to redevelop the building back in 2001 and finally completed the project in late 2009.
Exhibitions and arts activities are programmed in house by our Arts Enterprise Officer Tavienne Bridgwater. Occasionally, we do a call for proposals for the spaces but this is mostly done by asking artists to submit a register of interest for the spaces with details of their practice as opposed to asking for proposals.
If you would be interested in exhibiting, or hosting a creative project at the Briggait, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Briggait Project Spaces
The Briggait has two shop-fronted gallery spaces looking out onto Bridgegate both reasonably sized and flooded with natural light. They both feature floor-to-ceiling sized windows on both sides and are lit very well. They are painted a fresh white with grey flooring.
The Briggait Steeple Space
This space is situated in our building and serves as project/exhibition space for all types of artists. This space is great for trying out new ideas and projects before showcasing them to a wider audience and has seen a lot of use over the years from a number of great artists.
The 1873 Hall
This large and stunning space is the star of the Briggait and has hosted many exciting events over the years since Wasps renovated the Briggait including cultural festivals, large scale exhibitions, markets, ceilidhs and food and drinks events.
To enquire about hiring the 1873 hall and for details on availability and fees please contact our event management partners Inhouse via their 1873 Hall website 1873hall.inhouse.scot, by email email@example.com or by calling them on 0141 816 9989.
