Studios Available with Wasps
Wasps currently has some studios available and invite interested artists to enquire for more information. In Glasgow, Kirkcudbright, and Dundee there are currently five available studios and one individual studio bay available in an open plan shared space. Please see below for more information.
Studio 002 - The Briggait
Studio 002 is a large, ground floor studio at 206.2 sq ft. The space sits internally within the building with one large glass wall which allows for natural light to filter from the Briggait glass roof. The studio is available with immediate effect on a month to month rolling lease (meaning that the lease automatically renews itself at the end of each month).
Wasps require one month's rent and a deposit (equal to one month's rent) paid on or before the date of entry.
On-going monthly rent is usually paid to Wasps via Direct Debit at the beginning of each month.
The building has communal water supply and bathrooms on all levels, tenants showers, passenger lift, Wi-Fi and 24 hour access.
In the late 1990s, The Briggait, except for temporary use, had lain empty for the best part of 20 years. Wasps set out to redevelop the building back in 2001 and finally completed the project in late 2009. The Briggait now houses over 5,500 square metres of public and private space including:
- 45 studios for visual artists
- 24 offices for cultural organisations
- 4 shop-front units for creative industry companies
- A beautiful public Courtyard that dates back to 1873
- 2 street-front exhibition spaces

Wasps has three spaces available to let at Canonwalls and Claverhouse, two beautifully developed townhouses that provide 14 spaces for artist’s and makers in the Dumfries and Galloway area.
Our studios available are:
Studio 007 - Ground floor studio with natural light. Size: 221 Sq. Ft.
Studio 009 - Ground floor studio with natural light. Size: 105.60 Sq. Ft.
Studio 12 - First floor studio with natural light. Size: 95.70 Sq. Ft.
The leases are available on a monthly rolling contract (meaning that the lease automatically renews itself at the end of each month).

Canonwalls and Claverhouse opened the in 2010 after Wasps had been looking to set up studios within Dumfries and Galloway to meet the high demand for studios and to extend the network’s geographic spread. Both the Canonwalls and Claverhouse buildings sit in Kirkcudbright's historic High Street, close to the Tolbooth Arts Centre and near neighbour to the Selkirk Arms Hotel where Robert Burns reputedly wrote his famous "Selkirk grace". Studio 216 - Meadow Mill
Studio 216 is a very large, second floor studio with plenty natural light. The studio is available with immediate effect on a monthly rolling lease (meaning that the lease automatically renews itself each month). This would be a great space for artists looking to share/ work collaboratively and/or for practices requiring a large amount of space. The total size is 638 Sq. Ft.
Wasps require one month’s rent plus a deposit (equivalent to one month’s rent) paid on or before the date of entry.
Communal water supply, bathrooms and kitchen areas are located on each floor and Wi-Fi is available around the building. All tenants have 24 hour access. There is car parking available (though limited) and a passenger lift to all floors.
Meadow Mill is an historic jute mill, redeveloped by Wasps in 2012 to create 58 Studios across three floors housing up to 100 artists. There are also two project spaces, which are used for exhibitions, performances and events. More information on Meadow Mill here
