We are now one step closer to opening the doors to Inverness Creative Academy as construction works for the final phase go on site! Inverness Creative Academy is our £5.7m flagship project in the Highlands, based in the two B-listed Inverness Royal Academy ‘Midmills’ buildings in the heart of the city. The project is being delivered in two phases, one building at a time. We completed the £2.2m transformation of the 1913 building in Nov 2018, bringing it back into use and creating 31 studio spaces, plus workshop and events spaces.
Phase 2 is the most significant phase of the development. This £3.5m project will transform the original 1895 Academy building, doubling the amount of creative workspaces and restoring the grand former assembly hall to introduce an inspiring public events, gallery and meeting space.
Bancon Construction are leading construction works on this final phase and started works on site in January 2020. We have secured most of the money to complete our Midmills transformation, but must raise a final £500,000 to reach our overall target and realise our full ambition for Inverness Creative Academy, artists, makers, creators and communities in the Highlands.
Support
Wasps’ core operations are designed to be fully sustainable through rental income once up and running, however, as a Charity we must raise funds to be able to create our facilities. Any support is vital to ensuring that our vision is delivered. Your generosity means Wasps can keep delivering our mission to provide space and support activities in which creators can prosper. Contact our Funding and Partnerships Manager, Claire English, to get involved on 0141 553 5890 or claire@waspsstudios.org.uk
We would like to say a huge thank you to all our supporters of Inverness Creative Academy so far.
