YDance (Scottish Youth Dance) is the National Dance Agency for children and young people in Scotland. We aim to encourage young people aged 3 to 21 to get active and realise their potential as individuals through dance. We work in partnership with a range of agencies including the Creative Scotland, SportScotland, Local Authorities and the Scottish Executive Health Improvement Strategy Division, addressing a range of objectives – creativity, artistic development, increasing physical activity, improving health, personal and social development.
As a result of these partnerships we work on a range of different projects involving young people of different ages, experiences and backgrounds. These include the current Free To Dance (getting teenage girls in Glasgow, Ayrshire & Orkney moving), the Ignite boys project, the Dance in Schools Initiative and the Big Lottery Project. We offer a range of other opportunities for young people to get dancing which include holiday projects, summer schools and Project Y (Scotland’s Contemporary Youth Dance Company).
YDance is also committed to supporting delivery of the Curriculum For Excellence and provides a range of CPD training, interactive educational resources and workshop programmes to help achieve a wide range of single subject and interdisciplinary outcomes and experiences.
