I graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 2003 with a BA(HONS) in Fine Art and have since used this passion for the visual arts by teaching, organising exhibitions (solo and community), working on commission and exhibiting my work in galleries throughout Scotland.
I create my artwork for exhibitions and on commission from my WASPS studio in the Merchant City in Glasgow. I also have experience of teaching art and curating exhibitions.
I enjoy painting many subjects and find exploring the use of mixed media and different textures an exciting challenge. I create my artwork by using layers of different mediums including oils, inks, watercolor, decoupage and fabric onto one canvas.
I have produced a collection of artwork that has been developed by studying a personal hobby. The subject of dance is so broad that it was hard to know where to begin when I decided to study it for the visual arts. Due to the passion felt towards the subject it made sense to make the emotions related to dancing, the focus of the exhibition.
By layering different images related to dancing alongside dancers on the same canvas my paintings come together to allow the viewer to enter the realms of those particular experiences. My great interest in texture has also led me to create some smaller pieces using a wide variety of mixed media illustrating dancers in motion.
