Since graduating in 1999 from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design I have been working predominantly with oil on canvas. My work has been exhibited widely in gallery shows and art fairs throughout the UK.
My current practice centers around a developing interest in symbolism, memory and relationships. Objects that hold or contain are frequently employed as the central focus of paintings created. Color and strong contrasts play an important role in pieces produced. Neutral, non-specific backgrounds sit as a foil to the strongly colored fabric used and the reflective surfaces of the containers. Despite the associated benign nature of the material and objects, their placing together often creates a contrast of confrontation and seductiveness.
