The artist Gilly Ferns was born in Glasgow. She graduated from Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen in 1992. Her work can be seen exhibited in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
Gilly has won several awards including the David Gordon memorial prize from the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh and the Strathclyde University Purchase Prize at the Glasgow Print Studio.
Gilly works in a variety of mediums but mainly produces drawings using charcoal or ink monoprint techniques. Her work is noted for its imagination and humour and its use of animal imagery.
