Lisa Catterson, aka Farado Design, graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2012 with a BA (Hons) in Silversmithing and Jewellery Design. She worked on a variety of artistic projects for four years after graduating. These include taking part in international jewellery exhibitions, a year-long post as artist in residency at Edinburgh College of Art and a project with National Museum of Scotland, teaching school groups.
Working from her studio in the Briggait, Lisa started Farado Design in 2016 to allow her to focus on bespoke design commissions. She loves working with people directly and solving design problems. Inspired by repetition in nature and influenced by Scandinavian design principles: simplicity, minimalism, functionality, she is passionate about using ethical materials, including Fairtrade Gold and ethically sourced diamonds. Lisa create bespoke luxury jewellery pieces, specialising in engagement and wedding rings. Using Computer Aided Design, along with hand drawings and traditional jewellery techniques, she creates unique, individual pieces using precious metals and gemstones.
