"My name is Carla Meijsen and I love to knit. Since I learned to knit when I was seven years old, the technique of knitting intrigued and inspired me. What began as a mere hobby, soon became hobby and work. Since then it has only gotten better and more interesting and fulfilling. Not a day without knitting...
Knitting plays an increasing central role in my life. I love to share my knowledge with knitters all over the world. Travelling to countries where traditional knitting is still a part of everyday life is very important for my work as an author of books on traditional knitting.
The focus of my work is on traditional knitting cultures of Shetland, the Baltic states Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, the Scandinavian countries and the Netherlands and on the technical aspects of knitting.
At the moment I ‘m working on my third book ‘Magic Motifs’. The subject of this book will be on a Latvian design method, symbols, meaning and personalisation in knitwear and textiles."
