Having completed degrees in biology and then landscape architecture, Alison Grant went on to a successful career as a landscape architect working on projects at home and abroad, including a decade spent working in the USA and the Far East. Increasingly drawn to Fine Art she began her studies in Boston and Hong Kong and on her return to Scotland she undertook a postgraduate course in painting. She now works from her Edinburgh studio.
Unsurprisingly, given this background, her work is deeply rooted in nature, finding in the natural world and our relationship with it, both inspiration and much of her visual language. She not merely depicts how that natural world appears, but also brings us an understanding of how it works and our place within it.
